Presentation by the MA students on Exchange Programme in Malaysia December 2019

The Department of International Studies and History organized a presentation by the students who went for the prestigious Exchange Programme to Malaysia.  At an international platform, Christ has made this mark for the very first time with Sarawak Branch at Kuching, the capital of Malaysia of Swinburne University located at Australia. The following students Niharika Virlley, Christina Barla, Khumrila Thonger, Palak and Timna were a part of it from 17/11/19 to 1/12/19.

They spoke on their fruitful experience by stating that this journey embarked upon had made a positive impact and were able to imbibe the learnings.  As they were a part of the larger batch of BBA, MA Economics and MAIS, they made sure to inculcate a spirit of collective learning. They were a part of the Immersion Mobility Programme and the pedagogy dealt included: Firstly, Financial Analysis where they stated on how they were made to do worksheets. Secondly, Data Analysis Presentation where they learnt to use the software like SPSS. Thirdly, Entrepreneurship Essential and CSR where they build a Business Modal Canvas. This encouraged their budding minds to set a mind map on the functioning of a start-up. Fourthly, Design Thinking with regard to real life illustrations. Lastly, Case Studying and Solving which enabled them to execute a business plan and venture into this field which was never explored by them earlier. Hence it was an eyeopener. They spoke on their industrial visit which showed how effective public-private partnership in waste disposal made a greater impact on the environment. They also saw on how women were placed at higher positions at workplace making it a conducive atmosphere for future job prospects. In the perspective of International Relations, it was an extension of the course South East Asian Studies was enhanced by their learning on culture in relation to colonial past, multicultural diversity, Asian value systems, governance and politics during the visit. They also enlightened the audience on their experience to the Borneo Convention Centre which was held on 17-22 November 2019 where hydroelectricity generation was a topic of discussion. They concluded by showing images of their visits made to Bako National park where they did a 2.5 km trek and that of Kuala Lumpur.
The lecture was followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Anurag Tripathi.
